Elvis Extravaganza CEO Kitty Coyne signed a multi-year deal with Best Western Mardi Gras Casino Hotel Las Vegas to produce an all Elvii, Elvis-themed fan conventions.
The first of several events scheduled is a regional round of Elvis/Elvii fun November 10-12, 2006 at the Mardi Gras Casino on Paradise Blvd. The National Finals and Fan Convention is scheduled for January 19-21, 2007 marking the 30th year commemorating the death of Elvis Presley and the birth of the “ELVII.” All in the same venue.
The events will include live music and special guests such as Elvis Presley family members, friends and those who worked and lived at Graceland during Elvis’ lifetime. Elvis Presley Fan Clubs from around the globe will attend as will over a hundred Elvis impersonators from around the world from regional rounds of competition held throughout the year at various venues including state fairs, festivals , casinos.
Contestants will be competing for the title of the “Worlds Finest Elvis Impersonator” the most coveted recognition in the Elvis Tribute industry. Prizes are expected to surpass the $ 100,000 mark with sponsors still sending proposals – even after the August 1st deadline.
The event will also include “After Midnight from the Jungle Room Collection” – a Las Vegas Style Fashion Show. All this accompanied by vendors, memorabilia dealers and an exquisite traveling Elvis Tribute Museum.
Coyne from Columbus, Ohio is a marketing specialist in special event production who plans on attending the national convention. When asked if she would enter the competition, Coyne replied that she was only interested in making sure the event goes off without a hitch, but did say there would be many women and even children competing. Coyne added the contestants come from many countries including Japan, Germany, Ireland and Canada.
“This is going to be a very nice place for fans to gather on an ongoing basis,” Coyne said of the MardiGras Hotel Casino. “It’s got a great ‘mom & pop’ welcoming feel. This town is Elvis and is become more “ELVII” every day even moreso than Memphis since the has been gone from there for 30 years.”
The Elvii, which are now ‘keeping the flame’ for the memory of Elvis Presley and his music are plentiful and we seem to keep harvesting them by the barrel. They even have their own live radio station – Elvii Radio (http://www.elvii.com)
